My best, loyal friend I had on earth was my dog Scooby.
H was a Chihuahua short haired and we had him for 10 years from a puppy till a full grown pet. I dont like to use the word dog as he was more special than any regular dog and that is why we called him Scooby bond when we called him.
He turned out to be dads pet as he was like my shadow as every where I went he would go unless I closed a gate or a car door and then he would throw a fit as he wanted to go also. We would go have coffee togeather up town at at the local gas atation and would sit in the car with him and drink my coffee.
And at home if I had milk to drink or food to eat he would have to have the same right along with me.
He learned to take his paw and tap on my leg or foot if he wanted something or for me to pay attention to him.
Or some times he would stare at me and make a rooster sound like cockadoodle doo bark.
If I took him for a ride he wasnt happy just getting to go for a ride he had to be in my lap with his front paws on the outside mirror looking like a big dog.
Then in his last 1 or 2 years he started developing an inlarged stomach and we thought he was over weight and took him to the vet one day when he acted dehydraited and was coughing up water that he would drink. The vet told us he had conjestive heart failure and the oversized stomach was retained water mass and so they gave him water reduction pills and also blood pressure meds as they detected a heart murmur. He never did really lose and water weight and then he started acting different.
After all the years of sleeping with me. He now wanted to sleep on the end of the bed and would look back at me.
And even if i moved him close he would move to the bottom again and when he moved his tail would move like an ocean wave up and down instead of upright like before and thought this isnt normal actions for Scooby.
Then some times he would wander off out side for a while and I would go look for him and he would be setting alone on the grass or porch and just staring.
Then one evening he came into the living room and set down at my feet and just set up as straight as he had never done before and just stare at me without blinking or moving any part of his body and his eyes were a strange black as night apperence and I would talk to him and no response and then he turned around and looked at my wife with the same look and did not move when spoken to. It was like he was trying to tell me something was going on and he was not going to be around long and it felt like a message he was telling me really wierdut believeing.
He was having problems breathing when it would get hot as though he could not get enought air because of the CHF the vet told me and I felt he would not make it through the hot summer months ahead even with air conditioning in the house.
Something told me he was not going to make it and such a strong feeling I built him a concrete tomb with a lid and a headstone.
Then one day he stopped eating food he would drink and eat snacks but not food so the second day I took him to the vet and they found he was geting a liver infection and gave hima a IV with meds and took an xray that showed some thing in his stomach but because of the water in his system it wasn’t very clear and they wanted to operate to see if that was the problem. They said if we operate and find out what’s in his stomach and if we don’t he might die from starvation and if we do operate he might not make it due to his age. I told them to operate after thinking about it over night and they did and he made it through the operation and recovery fine. I called about the mid afternoon about him and they said oh year he setting up looking around and doing fine. Then about 3 hours later the vet called and said he had passed away in his sleep.
My point is yes, Scooby tried to tell me he was going to be going away but at least he has a nice concrete tomb dry and bug free with his favorite treats in side you know in case he gets hungry.
